SAMPLE LETTER TO THE EDITOR

To whom it may concern,

I would like to commend Representatives King and Maloney for introducing the TARP Accountability and Disclosure Act (H.R. 1242) to increase oversight and ensure transparency in the spending of the $700 billion in the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) approved by Congress last fall.

H.R. 1242 requires creation of a public database system so that TARP funds will be easily visible and traceable. Currently, technologies are available that will provide a complete picture of how TARP funds are being used in near real time.

I support the creation of a multi-layered educational database that would house all available banking transactions and information in one place. This database, to be used by authorities, with a web portal available to the American public, would effectively serve as the foundation from which Congressmen and regulators would be able to review and act on potential problems.

President Obama has promised the American people the ability to monitor and account for the use of tax dollars. H.R. 1242 will accomplish this promise.

Sincerely,
